A Message from Ann Owen, Youth Worker

I started my post as a youth worker for the Parish Church of St. Helen Auckland and West Auckland in the beginning of February, 2011, and have thoroughly enjoyed working with the children and a small group of helpers, with whom I have formed an excellent working relationship.

In this short time we have had two successful Sunday Fundays with more than 30 children joining in worship, crafts and games. We now have a thriving Jolly Tots session every Tuesday from noon until 1.30pm with 10 children and their parents, grandparents or carers joining us.

We provide a free lunch, have short bible stories, crafts and activities for children aged 0 to 4 years of age. We have raised funds by having a photography session and are in the process of holding a sponsored sunflower growing challenge. The money raised will be used to take children on outings in the summer.

My work with teenages has started with raising money to help pay for them to attend this years Walsingham Youth Pilgrimage from the 1st to the 5th of August. We have organised a game of bingo with a pie and pea supper and we are currently in the process of trying to arrange a bag pack at one of our local supermarketd.

May I take this opportunity to say that the children of our parish are a credit to their families, their schools and their community.
