LUNCH CLUB

Well into its 5th year and meeting monthly on the second Tuesday of the month the Lunch Club for the elderly, some of whom are bussed to and from the Centre by minibus, has proved very popular and is well attended by those who able to leave the comfort of their homes

Mass is taken after coffee at 10.30am and lunch is served at 12.30pm, an ideal way for the elderly to socialise and keep abreast with news of one another

Thanks to volunteers from the congregation this has proved to be an excellent project.  One of the congregation, Barbara Bevan, has taken responsibility for the oversight of the project, compiled the menus and done the shopping , while others have helped as servers and washers up.

There is little doubt that this venture is a great help to many of our elderly congregation who have supported the church well over many years.

In December, 2010, some of the elderly people of the parish were brought to the Centre on a beautiful, cold day, and, after celebrating Mass led by Fr McTeer, enjoyed a first class Christmas lunch prepared by Barbara Bevan and her cohort of helpers.
